30th Kolkata International Film Festival begins

Kolkata, 4 December (IANS). In West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the 30th Kolkata International Film Festival on Wednesday. Former cricketer Sourav Ganguly and MP Shatrughan Sinha were also present on this occasion.

This time the theme country of this film festival is France. This year it is going to be amazing. This time 2,459 films from different categories have been nominated.

The 30th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) will showcase films that highlight the rich cultural and cinematic heritage of the European nation. The film festival will continue till December 11.

Many prominent personalities from the world of politics attended the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday. Along with this, many film stars also participated in it.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee along with other dignitaries inaugurated the event.

Shatrughan Sinha said, “Mamata ji, I once again express my gratitude to you. Although there will be many things about your achievements, but this is not a political platform, so I will not talk about politics. But when we talk about social and cultural aspects, two things will definitely happen. One is the Bengali festival, which has now become a festival of the whole world and the other is the Bengali language.

He said that Durga Puja has been recognized by UNESCO as a heritage festival. This is the result of Mamata Banerjee’s leadership and struggle. At the same time, the Bengali language of Guru Rabindranath Tagore, Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is the language of all of us today. It is such a lovely, beautiful and important language. It is because of the struggle of the Chief Minister that Bengali language has got special recognition today.
