Ahmedabad, November 24 (IANS). There was an amazing sight of enthusiasm among the local people to participate in the 8th Adani Ahmedabad Marathon.
Adani Ahmedabad Marathon, an annual race dedicated to the armed forces, features a special ‘Run for Soldier’ campaign. This was the first time it received certification from the Athletics Federation of India.
Recognized by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, the marathon was flagged off on the beautiful Sabarmati Riverfront by Air Marshal Narmadeshwar Tiwari AVSM VM, Major General Gaurav Bagga, former India women’s cricket captain Mithali Raj, actor and athlete Saiyami Kher and Asian Marathon Champion Dr Sunita Godara. Gave the green signal.
Pranab Adani, Managing Director of Agro, Oil and Gas of Adani Group and Sanjay Adesara, CBO of Adani Sportsline were also present at the beginning of this marathon.
This marks the second time in the 8th edition of the marathon that the event has taken place in the heart of the city, passing through some of the city’s most iconic locations.
The runners, numbering over 20,000, tried their best and kept each other’s spirits up. During this time he covered places like Gandhi Ashram, Atal Bridge and Ellis Bridge.
The participants in the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon were divided into four categories. Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km Run and 5km Run. Before each race, the armed forces band played the national anthem adding to its charm.
The marathon will also be remembered for the fact that it was an eco-friendly event, as plastic water bottles were recycled and will be used to make park benches in the future.

Former Indian women’s cricketer Mithali Raj said, “The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon demonstrates the power of sport in fostering unity, inclusivity and purpose. It is wonderful to see thousands of participants from all age groups and backgrounds coming together with such enthusiasm for the marathon. It was an enriching experience.
