‘Adhai Din Ka Jhopra’ was a Sanskrit school, government should conserve it on the lines of Nalanda: Deputy Mayor of Ajmer

Ajmer, December 1 (IANS). Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders and Jain monks in Ajmer, Rajasthan had laid claim to ‘Adhai Din Ka Jhopra’. On this, Deputy Mayor of Ajmer Municipal Corporation Neeraj Jain has demanded from the Central Government for the conservation and promotion of the place located in the city.

Ajmer Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Neeraj Jain told IANS, “We have earlier also demanded that the Saraswati Kantavaran Sanskrit Pathshala, which was a Sanskrit school as well as a part of the temple, which was razed by the encroachers, should be Evidence of temples and Sanskrit schools were found at this place, as were the Nalanda University, Takshashila University and the Veda Pathshala at Dhar. Similarly, ancient educational centers were also attacked here. Even today, more than 250 sculptures are preserved with the Archaeological Survey of India.”

He further said, “This school is about a thousand years old, and Swastika marks, bells, and inscriptions written in Sanskrit have been found here. Despite this, there has been illegal occupation of this place. We have also demanded earlier That illegal encroachments should be removed from this Sanskrit Pathshala, and the unethical activities taking place should be stopped. We want the Archaeological Survey of India to take over and preserve it, like Nalanda University. has been rebuilt.”

He said, “Recently our Jain saints also visited this site and realized that there was a Jain temple here, as Jain sculptures have been found here. They believe that this site was not only a center of religious faith, In fact, Sanskrit education also took place here. This place is also mentioned in many historical books.

He said, “I demand the Central and State Governments to take steps to conserve and promote this place and return it to its ancient glory. Also, whatever illegal encroachments are being carried out here should be ended.” And no religious or immoral activity should take place. It is the responsibility of the Archeology Department and the local administration to take strict steps to stop such activities.”
