Jodhpur : Due to the continuous inflow of water in Jaswant Sagar Dam, Maru Ganga flowing in the form of a sheet has started moving slowly towards its destination. It took more than 48 hours for the water of Maru Ganga to cross a distance of about seven kilometers. The main reason for this is the indiscriminate exploitation of gravel by gravel mafias and digging long, wide and deep pits. Filling these underground pits with its water, Maru Ganga crossed the border of Badi Khurd on Monday. If the sheet continues to flow on the dam in this manner for the next week, then this water will reach Kankani via Ramnagar Malkosni, Bhavi, Lamba, Bala, Hungaon, Chopra, where the water of Jojri river will also be included. With this confluence of rivers, Maru Ganga will gain speed.
Villagers flock to see Maru Ganga
To see the view of the water flowing on Jodhpur’s Jaswant Sagar Dam, people from Jaitaran, Nimbaj, Bar, Raipur, Sojat as well as Pipar, Borunda, Merta have started arriving in vehicles. On Monday, many people made dal baati churma near the dam and offered it to Gajanand Maharaj seated here and distributed prasadi. Now as the Maru Ganga is moving towards its destination, people from the villages on the banks reach to increase the water. In the presence of Sardar Singh Charan and Parasdan Charan of Badi Khurd, people from Bhavi village covered the flowing water with a scarf with Vedic chanting, women sang auspicious songs. The villagers expressed their happiness by dancing with drums and thali. On Tuesday, people of Ramnagar will increase the water.
This time sowing will be done in thousands of bighas of land
Agricultural scientists believe that if the water in the dam stays for a long time, then the water level of wells and tube wells not only near the dam but also in the surrounding area of 30 to 40 kilometers will rise significantly and the quality of water will also definitely improve. This will also increase production. According to Ramniwas of the Agriculture Department, Rabi sowing of the year 2022-23 was done in 18 thousand hectares of land, but this time this area will be doubled. Due to the rise in the water level of the wells, this time Rabi sowing is sure to be done in 40 thousand hectares of land.
Water inflow in Chopra canal decreased
Apart from the water flowing on the Raipur dam, the water flowing from the plateau region kept the Jahaan Gawai pond full, due to which the water of dozens of wells has risen due to the seepage of the canal and the pond. Since Monday, the inflow of water in this canal has decreased by one foot.
