Ajmer : Satyarth Auditorium built at a cost of Rs 17 crore in Ajmer Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University is lying idle. Not a single rupee has been earned for four years. Only two convocation ceremonies have taken place. It is lying unusable due to lack of permanent chairs and carpets. A hi-tech Satyarth Auditorium with a capacity of 980 seats has been built on the land adjacent to the staff quarters. Its foundation stone was laid by former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on 14 August 2016. RSRDC initially started the construction with Rs 2 crore received from the National Higher Education Campaign. But due to delay it was completed in five years. The cost of construction reached 17 crores. Green room, porch, stage, balcony, lit and other constructions were done here. It had no use other than holding convocation ceremonies in 2023 and 2024.
Crores spent, chairs and carpet not installed
Permanent chairs and carpet could not be installed in the auditorium worth Rs 17 crore even in four years. These are to be purchased from the government’s Gem portal. The matter is stuck due to lack of coordination between RSRDC and the university.
Plan was made but did not come to fruition
Former Vice Chancellor Prof. Kailash Sodani had planned Satyarth Auditorium for the utility of the university and the city residents. The university’s income would increase by renting it out for weddings and cultural events. But the university has not earned a single rupee in four years.
