Ajmer councilors and officers did not attend the meeting called to give information about PM Awas Yojana-2

Ajmer : Ajmer Municipal Corporation Administration started Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban Project-2 after receiving instructions from the Central Government. Orders regarding this came in September. Work on the project could not be completed due to Diwali and Pushkar fair. On Thursday, councilors were called to the Gandhi Bhawan Auditorium to give information about the scheme. Under the new guideline, now the beneficiaries in Project-2 will get an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh for building a house instead of Rs 1.5 lakh. The meeting time was given at 4 pm. Despite the project being linked to the Prime Minister, the number of councilors and officials in the meeting did not reach double digits. The meeting remained a mere formality.

These can apply

The beneficiary will have to apply online in the Municipal Corporation. The income of the beneficiary should be less than Rs 3 lakh annually. Street vendors in urban areas, self-help groups, beneficiaries of PM Vishwakarma Yojana, building construction workers, temporary sanitation workers, Anganwadi workers will be eligible for the scheme.

Benefits are being given even to ineligible people

Ward 50 councilor Naresh Satyavanna said that fraud is being done in the name of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The JEN team of Municipal Corporation does not even come to the ward and ask the councilors whether the beneficiary is the right person or not. Satyavanna said that eight to ten people in her ward Jadughar area were given the benefits of the scheme on the basis of fake documents. When investigation was done, it was found that they lived in a rented house. Names of all eight people were given in the corporation. Complaint was given to the authorities but till date the investigation into this matter has not started, whereas after the matter was raised in the general meeting, the Commissioner had given instructions for investigation. Satyavanna said that when the land documents were examined, the councilor did not seem to be aware of which land documents the tenant had given. For this reason, the verification of the people living in his ward has been done by the Leader of Opposition instead of him. Satyavanna has expressed her displeasure on this matter.
