Another new revelation in JJM scam, this minister’s close aide arrested, on remand

Jaipur : Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Rajasthan has arrested one more accused in Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scam case on Tuesday. The arrested Sanjay Badhaya is close to former minister Mahesh Joshi. ED has already arrested three accused in this case including contractor father-son. Sanjay Badhaya has been arrested by ED under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. The accused was produced before the magistrate on Tuesday itself and taken on remand for questioning. Earlier, contractor Piyush Jain and his father Padmachand Jain and their relative Mahesh Mittal have been arrested.

ED had started this investigation on the basis of ACB action taken in PHED last year. ACB had told in the charge sheet that Padmachand Jain and Mahesh Mittal and others have committed huge corruption in issuing tenders and payments in Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED). These contractors bribed senior officials and took tenders in JJM on the basis of fake work completion certificates of M/s IRCON company and also took payments. ED has already conducted searches at the residences of former PHED minister Mahesh Joshi, Sanjay Badaya, Padma Chand Jain, Mahesh Mittal and others. During the search, ED has so far seized movable and immovable assets worth Rs 11.42 crore, which includes gold and silver worth Rs 6.50 crore.
