Mumbai, November 29 (IANS). Former Maharashtra government minister Deepak Kesarkar on Friday reacted to the statement of Congress leader and Legislative Council member Bhai Jagtap.
He has said that the Election Commission is a constitutional institution, and action should be taken against this statement. This is the only solution, otherwise if someone keeps speaking like this, the importance and dignity of the constitutional institution will not remain intact. I know brother Jagtap very well. It is not at all right for such a statement to come from his side. The Congress leader should apologize to the Election Commission.
Let us tell you that recently the results of Maharashtra Assembly elections have been declared. The people of Maharashtra have once again trusted the Mahayuti government and given their huge support. Maha Vikas Aghadi has suffered a crushing defeat. Maha Vikas Aghadi is not able to digest this defeat and the leaders of political parties included in the alliance are continuously targeting the Election Commission by saying that there are irregularities in EVMs. Congress leader Bhai Jagtap compared the Election Commission to a “dog”.
While talking to IANS, the Congress leader said that I have spent more than 45 years in politics and such results have not come in Maharashtra. He has not done anything like this. I have already been saying that if not today then tomorrow this should be discussed. I did not say that EVMs were hacked. I am saying that EVMs have been set and tampered. Both words are different. This is not a big deal. They made their first attempt in Madhya Pradesh, where they (BJP) also got success.
The controversial statement of the Congress leader is being condemned everywhere. It remains to be seen what action the Commission will take after the controversial comment.
