Bhajanlal government is going to bring a new law, read this important news

Jaipur : Bhajan Lal government in Rajasthan is considering making a law to implement Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for personal matters like marriage, divorce, inheritance and succession for all citizens on the lines of Uttarakhand. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel said in the Assembly on Thursday in response to a question by MLA Kalicharan Saraf, “This matter (UCC) is under consideration of the government. After reviewing all aspects of the issue, the government will bring the bill at the appropriate time.”

In February, Uttarakhand became the first state to pass a law for a UCC. Other BJP-ruled states such as Assam have promised to implement the UCC, one of the BJP’s three ideological promises. Article 44 of the Constitution, one of the Directive Principles of State Policy, advocates a UCC. But different religion-based civil codes have been applied in personal matters since Independence.

Congress opposed

Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi called the UCC an attack on India’s diverse culture. He said, “Separate laws were made keeping in mind the suitability of different traditions of groups like tribal and minority communities. The UCC aims to eliminate this diversity which is not acceptable.”
