Bhajanlal government will repeal Gandhi Vatika Trust Act in Rajasthan, know the reason

Jaipur : Bhajan Lal government has decided to repeal the ‘Gandhi Vatika Trust Act 2023’ brought by the previous Gehlot government of Rajasthan. The Rajasthan government will abolish the Gandhi Vatika Trust Act for the operation and management of ‘Gandhi Vatika’, a museum based on the biography of Mahatma Gandhi. A bill will also be brought in the Assembly for this. This decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting of Bhajan Lal government on Tuesday (July 2). After the cabinet meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel told in a press conference that it was decided to repeal the Gandhi Vatika Trust Act as there were some flaws in the Act. He said that the previous Congress government gave such unlimited powers to the Gandhi Vatika Trust which were not needed. He said that the operation of Gandhi Vatika will continue.

There is no provision in the Act for removal of the Chairman

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel said that a bill will be introduced in the Assembly to abolish the Gandhi Vatika Trust, Jaipur Act-2023. He said that in various sections of the Act brought in 2023, the vice-president was given unlimited financial powers. The vice-president was given the right to sell, mortgage or dispose of any kind of immovable property related to the trust. No provision was made in the said Act regarding the removal of the nominated vice-president. These provisions are not in the interest of the state. He also clarified that the Gandhi Darshan Museum will continue to be operated. He said that the museums operating under other departments in the state are being operated by the concerned department itself, in such a situation, Gandhi Vatika Trust is not required for the operation and administrative implementation of the Gandhi Darshan Museum.

To introduce the new generation to Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts, the theme of this Gandhi Vatika has been prepared under the guidance of a committee of Gandhian thinkers at a cost of Rs 85 crore.
