Jaipur News Desk: As part of the campaign being run against adulteration in the state by the Food Safety Commissionerate, fake ghee of different brands was found at the D-Mart store on Thursday. Additional Food Commissioner Pankaj Ojha said that a complaint was received about fake Pro Vedic Ghee being sold at the D Mart store located in Malviya Nagar. The investigation conducted by the government lab found that the ghee was of inferior quality and fake. The investigation also revealed that there were several cans of Saras Ghee with the same batch number and the same series. The quality control manager and analyst of Saras Dairy were called in for an investigation. The ghee was found to be fake in the investigation.
It has also come to light that the distributor had supplied fake ghee by placing cans of it in between the stock of ghee supplied to D Mart. Action was taken against distributor Khandelwal & Company near Vishwakarma Industrial Area Kukarkheda. Here, cans of fake Saras ghee were recovered from Saras cartons. A representative of Saras Dairy was called on the spot, who certified that the ghee was fake. The fake ghee was seized and samples were taken. Pro Vedic Ghee of Haryana being sold at D Mart was also tested in a government lab, in which about 450 liters of ghee was seized after being found to be fake and substandard at first sight. The Area Sales Manager of D Mart has been instructed to stop the stock of Pro Vedic Ghee and Saras Ghee kept in all the stores and warehouses of Jaipur and not to sell it till further orders. 40 liters of fake Saras ghee was also seized and handed over to Saras Dairy. It is believed that a big racket may come to light in this.
