Kept fighting for life for 10 days
Vijay Singh’s nephew Ajit Singh, who was attending the function, accidentally fired a shot from a 12 bore rifle. The bullet fragments hit Band Master Fakhruddin’s chest, seriously injuring him. Fakhruddin was immediately admitted to AIIMS. However, after his condition improved he was discharged on 7 October, but his health deteriorated again the next day. He was again admitted to AIIMS. But he died on Thursday after 10 days of treatment.

After this incident, family members and local people demonstrated outside the police station. The police started investigation under the supervision of Police Station Officer Mohammad Shafiq Khan and arrested Ajit Singh. The rifle has also been confiscated. Police have registered an FIR in this regard and the body has been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem. However, it is not yet clear whether the cause of Fakhruddin’s death was merely shrapnel injury to the chest or something else. The situation will be clear only after the post mortem report.
