Chandigarh, June 8 : A young woman was hacked to death with swords by a deranged young man in Mohali, Punjab, while she was on her way to work. The badly injured girl died.
The incident took place on Saturday morning at Phase-5 Chowk in Mohali. The deceased worked in a call center here. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. The Mohali police have started investigating the case.
A young woman named Baljinder Kaur was crossing the road after getting off at the lights of Phase-5 to go to work. Meanwhile, a masked youth came there and attacked Baljinder with swords.
The youth attacked with swords and Baljinder kept running on the road to save her life. No passerby came forward to help her.
Meanwhile, Baljinder fell unconscious on the road. On getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot and took the injured woman to the hospital, where she died.
According to the police, during the preliminary investigation, this case seems to be a case of love affair. The family of the deceased has denied having any information. SP City-1 Mohit Aggarwal said that the statements of the family are being recorded.
The accused youth has been arrested. It is not yet known why the young man attacked. The accused youth has been taken into custody. Interrogation is underway.
