Mumbai, December 10 (IANS). A case of fraud with a female dancer in the name of dance show in Dubai has come to light from Mumbra area of Thane, Maharashtra.
Police told that the victim woman Sona is a Lavani dancer by profession who earns her living by doing stage shows. She is associated with a WhatsApp group of Lavani dancers. An agent in the same group, who is also a dancer, had offered a stage show to Dubai in which good money was talked about. She went to Dubai on 15 November.
On going there we came to know that instead of a stage show there was dancing in a club. Sona refuses to dance in the club. After this they kept him imprisoned. Food was also given only once a day. They demanded Rs 6 lakh to release him.
Senior Police Inspector Anil Shinde said that the dancer’s husband lodged a case at Mumbra police station. After this the case was handed over to a police officer named Soni Shetty. She put pressure on the agent and brought the victim back within a day and handed her over to her family.
Sona told that on reaching Dubai a woman and a man had come to receive her. He got her mangalsutra removed in the car itself. After this they took him to a bar. Later he was kept in a room. The next day when he was taken to the show, it was revealed that he had to dance in a club. She also talked to the agent and told everything to her husband.
Sona told that she was kept locked in a room in Dubai. He was also given only one time to eat. When he tried his best to come back to India, he said that it had cost him six-seven lakh rupees to bring him to Dubai. They were demanding at least Rs 2.5 lakh. They kept him imprisoned there for five-six days. He told that during this time different people used to come and torture him.
Police said that even the agent who sent Sona did not know what was going to happen in Dubai. He denied the agent was at fault, but also said an investigation would be conducted if any racket was detected.
