Dausa : A new phase of giving Vitamin A syrup to children has started in the state. In the campaign that will run till December 29, this dose will be given to 1 lakh 73 thousand 744 children in Dausa district. In this one month campaign, the Medical and Health Department, in coordinated efforts with the Women and Child Development Department, will administer Vitamin A supplements to the children.
CMHO Dr. Sitaram Meena said that under the campaign, children aged between 9 months to 5 years will be given Vitamin A supplements at Anganwadi Centre, Sub Health Centre, Primary Health Centre, Community Health Center and District Hospital. This dose is given at an interval of every 6 months. Its micro planning has been done on the lines of Pulse Polio campaign.
Deputy CMHO Dr. Mahendra Singh Gurjar said that along with preventing eye diseases like night blindness, Vitamin A is also necessary for increasing the physical immunity of children. By giving Vitamin A, the fatal effects of diseases like diarrhea and pneumonia in children can be reduced, which also reduces the mortality rate of children under 5 years of age.
During this program, Anganwadi workers will give half a teaspoon i.e. 1 ml dose to children aged 9 to 12 months using the spoon that comes with the Vitamin A bottle and a full teaspoon i.e. 2 ml dose to children aged 1 to 5 years. In places where there are no Anganwadi centers or the posts of workers and ASHAs are vacant, ANMs will administer this dose to the children. He has appealed to the general public to give Vitamin A supplements to children before December 29.
