China’s wind energy capacity is leading in the world

Beijing, 6 December (IANS). According to the news from the ‘Shantho International Wind Energy Technology Innovation Conference-2024’, technological innovation in China’s wind energy sector continues to make significant progress, supporting the continued rapid development of China’s wind energy industry.

The latest data shows that China has built the world top-class wind energy industry system and made a huge contribution to the development of the global wind energy industry. It is estimated that China’s wind power installed capacity will double to 1 billion kilowatts in 2030.

In terms of industrial chain, China is already the world’s largest wind energy equipment manufacturing base. Wind turbine blade production capacity accounts for 64% of the global market, gearbox production capacity accounts for about 80% of the global market and generator production capacity accounts for about 73% of the global market.

In 2023, six Chinese wind turbine manufacturers will rank in the world’s top ten with a market share of more than 50%. They play an important role in the global energy transition and tackling climate change.

In terms of technological innovation, the maximum single unit capacity of offshore wind turbines has reached 26MW at present, which is currently the world’s largest offshore wind turbine unit. The longest wind turbine blade reaches 147 meters and the highest hub height reaches 185 meters.
