Raipur, 28 November (IANS). Senior Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh minister Kawasi Lakhma had given a statement on Wednesday that he no longer has faith in EVMs and he will soon launch a big movement regarding it. State President of Chhattisgarh unit of BJP, Kiran Singhdev has taken Lakhma and Congress to task on this issue.
Speaking to IANS on Thursday, the state BJP president said, “These people never had faith in anyone. These people have shown many times through their behavior that they do not trust any constitutional structure. The situation that is being seen today in various states like Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh proves that the condition of these people is very bad. This is all a result of their frustration.”
He said that in the states where Congress governments were formed last time, like Karnataka, Telangana and Jharkhand, were ballot papers used there also? Where they get defeated, they suddenly start raising questions on EVMs. First he should improve his party’s position and then comment on some other topic.
He said, “When these people face defeat in elections, they start raising questions on EVMs, but when they get victory, these people become silent.”
Former minister Kawasi Lakhma had even announced that he would not contest the elections until the system of ballot paper was started.
Lakhma had said that a meeting will also be held with the member parties of the ‘India’ block to start the system of ballot paper.
