Bharatpur : You can guess how big a hub of cyber fraud is the Mewat area of Deeg district of Rajasthan by the fact that in 4 months 74 gangs have earned 3 billion 36 crores rupees by cheating. Arif Khan, the accused in the case registered in Nagar police station, has cheated Rs 13 crore 50 lakh, Javed, the accused in the case registered in Kama police station, has cheated Rs 11 crore 69 lakh, Taleem, the accused in the case registered in Kaithwada police station, has cheated Rs 7 crore 85 lakh, Taiful, the accused in the case registered in Sikri police station, has cheated Rs 7 crore 3 lakh. Including these, about 74 gangs have cheated Rs 3 billion 36 crores in the months of March, April, May, June.
90% fraud by making pornographic morph videos
The maximum number of cases of cyber fraud are being registered in Deeg Kotwali, Kaman, Sikri, Nagar, Pahari, Khoh, Kaithwada, Jaluki, Jurhara, Gopalgarh police stations of Deeg district. 90% of the frauds have been committed by morphing people’s photos with pornographic videos. Apart from this, cyber fraudsters commit fraud by luring people to sell cars, speed bikes, expensive phones at low prices on social media, luring them with lottery on WhatsApp messages, and in the name of booking goods online.
So far 200 cyber thugs have been arrested
To curb these cases, ‘Operation Anti Virus’ is being run under the direction of Bharatpur Range IG. Under this campaign which started from March 1, 2024, more than 200 cases have been registered so far and more than 700 accused have been arrested. The police claim that due to this action, there has been a 69% reduction in cyber crime cases till the month of August.
How was the amount of fraud revealed?
According to IG Rahul Prakash, earlier the mobile IMEI and SIM card used by cyber thugs for cheating was checked. But when the mobile IMEI and SIM card used by them during cheating were linked to other mobile IMEI and SIM cards, the amount cheated was revealed.
