Dhruv Jurel to Captain India A Against Sri Lanka A in Two-Test Series

New Delhi, June 6: The selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), led by Ajit Agarkar, has announced the India A team for the upcoming two four-day matches against Sri Lanka A. The matches will take place in Galle from June 25 to July 5, with wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel set to lead the team.

Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Aakib Nabi, who showcased impressive bowling in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy, has also been included in the squad. Devdutt Padikkal has been appointed as the vice-captain.

Alongside Jurel and Padikkal, the batting lineup features Sai Sudharsan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and N Jagadeesan. For the first time, Vidarbha’s Aman Mokhade and Andhra’s Sheikh Rasheed have been selected for the India A team. The primary goal for the Indian batsmen during this tour will be to adapt to spin-friendly conditions and get accustomed to playing with the red Kookaburra ball.

The bowling attack includes Nabi, Yash Thakur, Anshul Kamboj, and Gurnoor Barar. Gurnoor was recently called up to the Test team for the ongoing match against Afghanistan. Aakib’s selection is significant, as he played a crucial role in leading Jammu and Kashmir to their first Ranji Trophy victory earlier this year, finishing as the highest wicket-taker with 60 wickets.

All-rounder Ayush Badoni will take charge of spin bowling responsibilities alongside leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari and off-spinner Saransh Jain. Aakib and Zeeshan were net bowlers for the Indian team in preparation for the ongoing Test match against Afghanistan in New Chandigarh.

Gaikwad, Badoni, Thakur, and Kamboj are already in Sri Lanka, having traveled for a triangular series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A starting June 9.

The India A team for the two four-day Tests includes: Dhruv Jurel (Captain, Wicketkeeper), Sai Sudharsan, Ayush Badoni, Devdutt Padikkal (Vice-Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Saransh Jain, Gurnoor Barar, Aakib Nabi, Yash Thakur, Anshul Kamboj, N. Jagadeesan, Aman Mokhade, Sheikh Rasheed, and Zeeshan Ansari.
