Vijaypur, 6 December (IANS). News of a serious accident has come to light from Vijaypur, Karnataka. Here, five people died on the spot in a massive collision between a car and a sugarcane harvesting machine.
All the deceased are residents of Aliabad in Vijaypur taluk. Two women are also among the dead. This serious accident happened while coming from Hanyansagi to Talikot. The deceased have been identified as Ningappa Patil (55), Shantappa Patil (45), Bhimashi Sankanla (65), Shashikala (50) and Dilip Patil (45).
According to the information, there was a head-on collision between a car and a sugarcane cutting machine. The accident happened when the family was returning in the car after seeing a girl for marriage.
As soon as information about the incident was received, Talikot police reached the spot. Officials also visited the spot and sent all the bodies for postmortem.
Officials said that the driver of the vehicle fled from the vehicle after the accident. The search for the accused driver is ongoing.
A senior police officer said that the bodies have been sent to Bagewadi Government Hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered and further investigation is being done.
