Jodhpur : The file of providing water to the people of colonies adjacent to Jodhpur city has become a football. First, five months ago, PHED officials along with the chief engineer of the project prepared a water supply plan and sent it to the state government. The state government returned this letter saying that all the work related to this letter will be looked after by the Project Chief Engineer. Now the Chief Engineer will send this document back to the headquarters, after that the work will start after getting its approval. Actually, PHED had earlier planned to do the survey and prepare the DPR for Rs 2 crore 80 lakhs. Now the same file will be sent to the project chief engineer. Whereas earlier this document was prepared by sitting with the project officials. By repeatedly moving the file here and there, people’s thirst seems to be becoming football.
Lists were sought from JDA
Information about government and non-government colonies situated in the periphery area of Jodhpur has also been taken from JDA. After surveying these colonies, a complete plan for water supply is being prepared on the basis of the scheme. Its estimated cost is likely to be Rs 850-1000 crore. However, officials say that this is a preliminary figure. Its DPR is being prepared.
Planning for the next 20 years
Based on the information of all the colonies, a plan is being prepared keeping in mind the increasing population in the next 20 years. In the DPR, water arrangements will be made on the basis of survey and requirement of the colonies. Information will be given on where and how many connections there will be. A plan will be made to supply drinking water at 135 liters per person per day.
