Rajasthan : Heavy rains are continuing in many districts of Rajasthan. This is badly affecting the lives of people. Due to heavy rains and waterlogging, hellish conditions have arisen in many cities. Meanwhile, after the warning of the Meteorological Department, the administration has declared a holiday in schools. Actually, the Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Bhilwara on Saturday. After the warning of the Meteorological Department, the administration has come into alert mode. The Collector and SP suddenly went on a tour of the city with the staff on Friday evening. Inspected the areas likely to be flooded. Collector Namit Mehta has declared a holiday in educational institutions on Saturday evening. There will be a holiday in schools from class 1 to class 12 on Saturday.
Officials came out on the streets to solve the problems caused by rain
Collector Namit Mehta held a meeting with all SDMs and block level officers to strengthen preparations in rural and urban areas in view of the continuous rain. He instructed all officers to go to the field and take stock of the situation. In the evening, the collector went on a tour of the city with a team of Municipal Council, City Development Trust and police officers. Observed the areas likely to be flooded. On the spot, Municipal Council Commissioner Hemaram was instructed to improve the system. Especially, instructions were given to make separate arrangements for drainage from waterlogging in the railway under beach.
Help sought from industry group to deal with water logging
It should be ensured that there is no water logging in basements of buildings, coaching institutes, educational institutions, public buildings etc. Arrangements are being made for mud pumps and other resources to deal with the water logging in underbridges, settlements etc. in urban and rural areas.
The administration made this appeal to the general public
The collector instructed the officials to assess the waterlogged areas and ensure proper arrangements. Sign boards should be installed at these places to avoid accidents and the movement of the general public, especially children, should be constantly monitored. The District Education Officer was instructed to make children aware in prayer meetings to avoid going to dams, ponds etc. and to avoid bathing in them.
Identify old and dilapidated buildings
Mehta was addressing a meeting on disaster management through video conferencing from the VC room of the Collectorate on Friday. He directed all subdivision officers and Municipal Council EOs to identify old and dilapidated buildings, and also directed them to vacate such buildings and make alternative arrangements so that any kind of damage can be prevented in time. Also, instructions were given regarding the availability of schools, Dharamshalas, community buildings for temporary accommodation of the people affected by heavy rains.
80% water in half a dozen dams
Water resources department’s water bodies like Jood Ka Naka (Bijolia), Damti Kokda (Mandalgarh), Govta Dam (Mandalgarh), Jetpura Dam (Mandalgarh) have filled up to 80 percent or more capacity. The collector directed the SDM to take special precautions in the downstream villages in these areas. He provided necessary guidelines to the officials to ensure various services including monitoring of water level of dams, cleaning arrangements, proper traffic management, adequate medical facilities during the rainy season.
Availability of medical kits and life saving medicines
In the meeting, Mehta instructed the CMHO and block medical officers to ensure availability of sufficient medical kits and life saving medicines, availability of mobile medical teams and availability of essential medicines in sufficient quantities at medical centres. Also, arrangements should be made for spraying insecticides and fogging in ditches or other places where water remains filled after the rains.
