Jaipur : The Central Government has made a big announcement today and has given a Diwali gift to the railway employees. In recognition of the excellent performance of railway employees, the Central Government has announced a bonus of Rs 2028.57 crore to the railway employees. The government has announced to give 78 days bonus to railway employees. This will directly benefit more than 11 lakh railway employees across the country. According to Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, every year before the holidays of Durga Puja and Dussehra, productivity related bonus is paid to the eligible railway employees. Under this, this year also the Railway Ministry has approved payment of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) of Rs 2028.57 crore to about 11.72 lakh railway employees. He said that as per this announcement, each eligible railway employee will get a maximum amount of Rs 17,951/- payable for 78 days.
Morale of railway employees will increase
This amount will be paid to various categories of railway employees like Track Maintainer, Loco Pilot, Train Manager (Guard), Station Master, Supervisor, Technician, Technician Assistant, Pointsman, Ministerial Staff and other Group ‘C’ employees. He said that payment of PLB will act as an incentive to the railway employees to work towards further improvement in performance. It will also work to boost the morale of railway employees.
Railways made record cargo loading of 1588 million tonnes
According to Captain Shashi Kiran, the performance of Railways in the year 2023-2024 was very good. Railways loaded a record cargo of 1588 million tonnes, while approximately 6.7 billion passengers traveled by rail. Many factors contributed to this record performance. These include improvements in infrastructure, operational efficiency and better technology due to record capital expenditure in railways by the government.
