Jaipur : Caffeine-containing energy drinks are causing addiction in children and youth. It is surprising that these drinks are prohibited for children and pregnant women, yet they are being sold freely. This is happening even after they contain a high dose of the intoxicating substance caffeine. Their consumption is also having an adverse effect on the bodies of youth and children. Such children and youth who have become addicted to them are coming to the Psychiatry Center. In fact, cheap energy drinks of some branded companies are being openly sold at tea shops, cafes, dairy booths around schools, colleges and coaching institutes in many areas including Gandhinagar, Bajaj Nagar, Rajapark, Malviya Nagar, Gopalpura, Vaishali Nagar, Mansarovar, Chitrakoot, Jagatpura of the capital. Children and youth are unknowingly becoming addicted to drugs due to the false propaganda by the companies that consuming them provides energy. Consuming more than two bottles i.e. 500 ml of it is very harmful, because 0.03 percent i.e. 72 mg of caffeine is found in one bottle. This information is mentioned on the bottle but is still being ignored.

Experts said, family should keep an eye on children

In this case, health experts say that if children and youngsters get addicted to caffeine, it is very difficult to get rid of it. It can have many side effects on the body. The best way to keep children away from such drinks is that parents themselves keep a distance from them. They should not bring such things in the house. If parents avoid such things, then children will also not get addicted to it. Do not buy such things for children out of love and affection.

Ban imposed in Maharashtra, necessary here too

Recently, the Maharashtra government has taken this matter seriously and has banned the sale of caffeinated energy drinks within 500 meters of schools and colleges. The Food and Drug Administration department has been instructed to take action if the rules are not followed.
