Rajasthan : With the beginning of pre-monsoon activities in the state, the common people got relief from the heat as the weather changed across the state including Jaipur on the second day on Friday. Due to the effect of western disturbance, the clouds were kind amidst the movement of clouds and strong winds. This also resulted in a drop in temperature. After noon, the weather changed completely at all places. The weather became pleasant after the rain. Light to moderate rain was witnessed in about a dozen cities including Jaipur. The highest rainfall of about two inches was witnessed in Kota.
Clouds rained with thunderstorms in these 13 districts
This period of rain will increase in the coming days. According to the Meteorological Department, rain was recorded in Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Churu, Baran, Sangaria, Chittorgarh, Tonk, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Jhalawar, Alwar, Sikar, Nagaur and other places. On Friday, 45 mm rain was recorded in Kota, 40 mm in Ajmer, 15 mm in Jaipur, 10 mm in Baran, 5 mm in Churu and 3 mm in Sangaria. The weather was pleasant in Mount Abu as well, due to which tourists admired the various sightseeing places of the area. Hadoti received the first heavy rain of the season. The inflow of water in the dams also increased. Kota received one and a quarter inch rain in two hours. Water inflow occurred in the upper region of Chambal river due to rain. Due to this, 7598 cusecs of water was discharged by opening two gates of Kota Barrage three feet each, while 3744 cusecs of water was drained out by producing electricity at the hydro power house of Jawahar Sagar Dam. The first torrential rain of the season occurred in Kota city for an hour. This flooded the low lying areas. 15 thousand sacks of goods got wet in Bhamashah Mandi. In western Rajasthan, the highest rainfall of 50.3 mm was recorded in Sriganganagar and 42 mm in Malpura and Tonk of eastern Rajasthan. While 50 mm rain was recorded in Ramgarh Dam of Jaipur and 40 mm rain was recorded in Bheru ki Dhani. Rain activities along with thundershowers are likely to continue in Kota, Udaipur divisions and surrounding areas on 22-23 June and rain activities are likely to increase further in some parts of south-eastern Rajasthan from 24 June. There is a strong possibility of heavy rain at some places in Kota and Udaipur divisions on 25-26 June.

A drop of seven degrees was recorded in the mercury last night. 15 mm of rain was recorded in Jaipur till late night. Drivers got stuck in the Nandpuri culvert located in Malviya Nagar due to waterlogging under it. The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 37.4 and the minimum temperature at 25.6 degrees.
