Tehran, April 29: Iran’s state-run Press TV reported on Wednesday that the United States will soon face “practical and unprecedented military action” in response to its alleged “maritime piracy and bullying” through an ongoing maritime blockade against Iran.
According to a major security source cited by Xinhua News Agency, Iran’s armed forces stated that “there is a limit to patience,” and if the US continues its “illegal” maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, a “strong response” will be necessary.
The source indicated that if the US remains obstinate and does not comply with Iran’s conditions, the “enemy” may soon witness a different type of action in response to the naval blockade, which they described as “maritime piracy.”
Meanwhile, responding to the US actions of seizing Iranian vessels in international waters, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, stated that this constitutes “illegal pressure and interference in lawful trade,” as reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency on Wednesday.
Iravani wrote a letter to the UN and the Security Council, asserting that the US seizure of Iranian vessels is equivalent to “maritime piracy.”
Recently, US District Attorney (Washington D.C.) Jeanine Pirro acknowledged in a post on the social media platform X that two vessels, “MT Majestic” and “MT Tiffany,” were seized, along with 3.8 million barrels of Iranian oil on board.
Reports indicate that the US imposed this blockade in the Strait of Hormuz after no agreement was reached during talks with Iran in Islamabad on April 11 and 12.
A ceasefire between Iran, the US, and Israel was implemented on April 8, following 40 days of conflict that began on February 28, when the US and Israel jointly attacked Iran and several of its cities, resulting in casualties among Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, senior commanders, and civilians.
In retaliation, Iran launched missile and drone strikes on Israeli and US positions in the Middle East, strengthening its grip on the Strait of Hormuz.
