Bengaluru, May 19: Karnataka BJP President and MLA BY Vijayendra launched a verbal attack on the Congress government on Tuesday, questioning its decision to celebrate three years in power. He accused the government of overseeing “misgovernance, corruption, and administrative failure” in the state.
As speculation continues over leadership issues within Congress, the Karnataka government is set to celebrate its three-year anniversary with a grand event named “Progressive Karnataka” near Tumakuru, where it will distribute property documents to 152,000 beneficiaries.
Vijayendra questioned what the Congress government had to celebrate, alleging that the state is grappling with rising debt, an empty treasury, and a lack of development projects. He stated that roads, hospitals, schools, irrigation projects, and civic infrastructure across the state are suffering due to a lack of funds, while the government’s focus remains on advertisements and political management.
He further claimed that the financial burden of the government’s policies would fall on the youth of Karnataka in the future. The BJP leader accused the government of failing to approve payments to contractors, delaying infrastructure projects, and achieving zero development during its tenure.
Criticizing the Congress government’s guarantee schemes, Vijayendra alleged that these guarantees were irregular and delayed, being used more as electoral tactics than commitments to public welfare. He also accused the government of increasing the prices of essential items, burdening ordinary citizens.
Vijayendra alleged that under the current administration, scandals, corruption, and the misuse of public resources have escalated significantly. He claimed that Karnataka is being turned into an ATM for the Congress high command in a bid to protect the ruling leadership’s position.
The BJP state president also targeted the government over law and order issues, alleging that riots, drug networks, gang violence, murders, and assaults have increased, creating an atmosphere of fear among citizens. According to him, criminals appear emboldened under the current government, while ordinary people no longer feel safe.
Referring to recent allegations regarding prison conditions, Vijayendra claimed that jails are becoming party hubs where criminals reportedly enjoy VIP treatment inside. He questioned the moral authority of the Congress government to celebrate outside if criminals are celebrating inside jails.
Accusing the government of failing in finance, development, welfare scheme distribution, and law and order, Vijayendra described the Congress government’s anniversary celebration as a reminder of “three years of misgovernance, corruption, appeasement, and betrayal of public trust.”
He emphasized that even if Congress presents its “self-congratulatory report card,” the people of Karnataka will deliver their verdict through the ballot box.
