Karauli : Karauli In the era of inflation, it is difficult to carry out the work as per the standards at the cost fixed months ago, but from installation of street lights to road and building construction works are being completed at a very low cost. Recently, the contractor completed the work of installing street lights in an industrial area at less than half the cost estimated by RIICO. At the same time, the work of road widening with interlocking tiles footpath is also being done at a much lesser amount than the estimated cost. In such a situation, people are apprehensive about the quality of the cheap development works done at half the approved amount based on the cost estimate. An example of this is that the interlocking tiles installed just a few months ago have started disintegrating.
In fact, the work of installing street lights to illuminate the internal roads in the industrial area is nearing completion. RIICO Headquarters approved the work of removing the lights from the poles of the Electricity Corporation and installing street lights and poles separately. For which a tender was issued in the month of June after estimating the cost at Rs 58.52 lakh. The contractor company got the work order for installation of 100 street lights at 50.04 percent less i.e. Rs 26.86 lakh. Apart from this, several kilometers long footpath of interlocking tiles dug for installing street light poles and laying cables also has to be repaired and returned to its previous condition. Similarly, road widening work is being done by constructing footpaths with interlocking tiles in the IID Center (expansion area) of the industrial area. For this, after assessment from RIICO, tender was issued at a cost of Rs 1 crore 23 lakh. In which the contractor has received the work order for 38.91 percent blow i.e. Rs 47 lakh 44 thousand less than the total amount. That means the work estimated at Rs 1 crore 23 lakh is being done at only Rs 75 lakh 56 thousand. Due to the work being done in such desired quality, the possibility of not being able to complete the guarantee period of the development work cannot be ruled out.
