Dungarpur : Dungarpur Bichhiwada police station has taken a major action against illegal liquor smuggling. Police have seized Rajasthan-made liquor worth about Rs 12 lakh from a container on the Ratanpur border of Rajasthan-Gujarat. Liquor was kept hidden in the container by making a secret box behind the driver’s cabin. The container driver has been arrested. The accused is being questioned by the police.
CI Kailash Soni of Bichhiwada police station said that a campaign is being run against illegal liquor smuggling on the instructions of SP Monica Sain. Under this, information about illegal liquor smuggling was received through the informer through Ratanpur border of Rajasthan-Gujarat. On this, a blockade was imposed by the police on Ratanpur border. During this time a container coming from Udaipur was stopped. During interrogation, the container driver revealed his name to be Omprakash Singh, resident of Beawar. When the police searched the container, a secret box in the cabin of the container was found filled with liquor cartons. On which the police have recovered 192 cartons of Rajasthan made liquor from the container. A case was registered under the Excise Act and the accused container driver Omprakash was arrested. The value of the seized liquor is said to be around Rs 12 lakh. The driver was planning to smuggle the liquor from Bhim Rajsamand to Gujarat. At present the police is interrogating the accused.
