Major Drug Bust in Udaipur: Over 1,100 kg of Cannabis Destroyed

Udaipur, October 7: Udaipur police have launched a significant operation against drug trafficking and illegal cultivation, destroying cannabis and hemp farms in the remote hilly areas of the Mandwa police station jurisdiction. A total of 1,149.500 kilograms of green cannabis and hemp plants were seized, including 17.450 kilograms of cannabis and 1,132.050 kilograms of hemp.
Under the direction of District Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan, and with the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Mukul Sharma and Circle Officer Dungar Singh, a joint team led by Mandwa Station Officer Mungalaram and DST Inspector Chandra Bhan Singh conducted the operation.
According to police, a tip-off led to the early morning search operation in the challenging hilly terrain of Mauja Sadi in the Mandwa area. During the search in the hilly region of Nadi Phala Sadi, large-scale illegal cultivation of cannabis and hemp was discovered in the fields of several individuals, including Kavitaram, Naklaram, Holaram, Kiran, Raviya, and Narayan.
Illegal Farming Hidden in Hills: Upon arrival, police found extensive illegal crops flourishing in the hilly area. Authorities stated that traffickers had chosen these remote hills to evade police detection. The entire crop was uprooted and seized on-site.
Seven separate cases have been registered at the Mandwa police station following the operation, including one under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act and six related to Section 16/54 of the Excise Act concerning hemp. Police are now conducting raids on potential locations to arrest the main suspects connected to the illegal cultivation and trafficking network.
