New Delhi, November 14 (IANS). Congress leader Gurdeep Singh Sappal had a special conversation with IANS on Thursday. During this, he reacted to the comments made by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and the ongoing ED raids in Maharashtra.
When Gurdeep Singh Sappal was asked why UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hit back at Mallikarjun Kharge, he said that Kharge’s family was killed by Muslims, but he never said anything about it because he does vote bank politics, So he said that Yogi Adityanath’s politics is one of spreading hatred, whereas Mallikarjun Kharge and the Congress party do politics of uniting the society. He said that Kharge himself had revealed in a TV interview that his family was attacked by the henchmen of the Nizam of Hyderabad and several members of his family were killed.
He said that Kharge has publicly said that his family was massacred, but he has no desire for revenge. He said that the way his family was tortured, the same should not happen to any other citizen. This is Kharge’s politics – hatred should not be answered with hatred. Kharge has always done politics of unity and harmony and talked about the rights of all communities, Dalits, Muslims and tribals. He also said that Kharge ji had the vision that every citizen in this country should get equal protection and rights and for this purpose he dedicated his life.
On ED raids in Maharashtra, he said that as elections approach, Bharatiya Janata Party’s allies and agencies become active. ED’s work is always according to the political interests of BJP and it tries to influence the elections.
He asked whether ED has got a status above the Election Commission? Can he take action to influence the electoral process without the permission of the Election Commission? He said that when the election code of conduct is in place, no government official, such as the DGP or Collector, can take any decision without the permission of the Election Commission. But why is ED given this freedom? He also said that ED’s action does not yield any concrete results and its impact is very mild.
He said that the question that arises here is whether ED is above the Constitution? Does ED have the right to influence the electoral process without the permission of the Election Commission? He alleged that ED is being used for politics at the time of elections and this is completely wrong.
