New Delhi, December 6 (IANS). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya on Friday accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of pushing the state on the path of destruction. To prove his point he also shared a figure.
He said in his social media handle
Sharing some shocking statistics related to West Bengal, the BJP leader said, “West Bengal consumes about 67 percent of kerosene in India and this situation persists despite adequate supply of LPG.”
He raised the question, “What could be the reason? Poverty, black marketing or the large number of illegal immigrants doubling as vote banks for the ruling TMC?”
He further said, “Whatever the reason may be. But, it cannot be denied that Mamata Banerjee is leaving behind a ruined state.”
It is noteworthy that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Samik Bhattacharya had asked questions regarding this issue to Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi in the Rajya Sabha.
Based on this, Amit Malviya reacted on his social media X handle.
In fact, BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya had asked whether West Bengal consumes the largest amount of kerosene in the country? Is the Ministry aware of the misuse and black marketing of kerosene in West Bengal? Has the government taken cognizance of the claim that kerosene is largely consumed by Bangladeshi infiltrators? What measures are being implemented to improve monitoring and distribution to prevent such misuse and ensure intended beneficiaries and promote alternative, clean fuels to reduce kerosene dependence in rural and border areas? What are the initiatives?
In response to all these questions, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi, had given written answers. In which he answered all the questions of the BJP MP in detail.
He wrote, “The Government of India allocates kerosene under the Public Distribution System (PDS) to other States and Union Territories, including West Bengal, on a quarterly basis for cooking purposes. During the year 2023-24, various States/UTs The allocation of PDS SKOs to Union Territories is given in the Annexure.”
