India got medal in shooting after 12 years

With Manu Bhaker winning the bronze medal, India has won a medal in shooting after 12 years. Earlier, Indian shooters had to return empty-handed in Rio Olympics 2016 and Tokyo Olympics. Manu was very disappointed after not winning a medal in Tokyo 2020. After this, she worked hard for the Olympics along with coach Jaspal Rana. The result was that Manu won the bronze medal in Paris Olympics by finishing third with 221.7 points in the final of eight shooters.

PM Modi congratulated Manu Bhaker

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Manu Bhaker on India’s first medal in the Paris Olympics. He wrote on Instagram, “Manu Bhaker, congratulations for winning India’s first bronze medal in the Paris Olympics. This success is even more special because she has become the first woman to win a medal in shooting for India.

Ye Jin of South Korea won the gold medal

She created history by becoming the first Indian woman in 20 years to reach the shooting final in an individual event at the Olympics since Suma Shirur in 2004. In the 10m air pistol event, South Korea’s Ye Jin won the gold medal with an Olympic record of 243.2 points. Her compatriot Kim Yeji got the silver medal with 241.3 points. On the opening day, Bhaker finished third in the qualification round of the women’s 10m air pistol to qualify for the final at the ongoing Paris Olympics on Saturday, while Rhythm Sangwan failed to make it to the final by finishing 15th.
