Mandi, November 12 (IANS). Rakesh Kumar, the brave son of Himachal Pradesh, who was martyred in Kishtwar of Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated with state honors in Mandi district today. Rakesh Kumar has merged into the five elements today. Slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai echoed everywhere and the martyr was bid farewell with tearful eyes.
According to media reports, the body of martyr Rakesh Kumar reached his home in his native village Baranog on Tuesday morning. During this time a large number of people arrived to pay tribute to the martyr. As soon as the mortal remains of the martyred husband reached home, wife Bhanupriya first said Jai Hind to her martyred husband. After this, she kissed her forehead and hugged the dead body and cried. Everyone became emotional after seeing this touching scene. Everyone’s eyes became moist.
After the last darshan at home, the martyr’s body was taken to the village cremation ground. The martyr’s wife along with her daughter shouldered her husband’s bier and bid farewell while crying and shouting slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai.
9 year old son Pranav lit the funeral pyre of his martyred father. The soldiers coming from the army side gave the last salute to their comrade by firing in the air. During the last farewell, a large number of people including Nachan MLA Vinod Kumar, Balh MLA Inder Singh Gandhi, DC Mandi Apoorva Devgan, DIG Soumya Sambshivan, former MLA Sohan Lal Thakur and APMC Chairman Sanjeev Guleria were present on behalf of the administration.
Martyr Rakesh Kumar’s elder brother Karm Singh said that the martyr’s house was destroyed in the natural disaster of the year 2023. His dream of building a new house remained unfulfilled. He demanded from the government that a new house should be built for the martyr’s family and along with this, Chhamyar School should also be named after the martyr.
APMC Chairman Sanjeev Guleria said that Rakesh Kumar displayed bravery and sacrificed his life for the country. His sacrifice can never be forgotten. He assured the family on behalf of the government that efforts will be made to provide as much help as possible to the family at the government level. The demand for house construction will be placed prominently before the government and administration.
Let us tell you that Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar was martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. Rakesh Kumar was a resident of Baranog village of Chhamyar gram panchayat under Balh sub-division. He leaves behind his 90-year-old mother, wife and two children.
