Mother-in-law and sister-in-law sentenced to 7 years each in Kota married woman’s suicide case

Kota : Kota In the 8-year-old case of suicide of a woman who was a victim of mental and physical torture due to demand for dowry, the Additional Sessions Court, Women Harassment Serial 2 Court has sentenced two accused. The court has punished the accused mother-in-law Kamla Bai and sister-in-law Devki, residents of Godlyaheri police station Kaithoon, with 7 years of simple imprisonment each.

Additional Public Prosecutor Bhupendra Mittal said- On October 24, 2016, Satyanarayan, brother of deceased Usha Bai, had given a complaint at Kaithoon police station. In which it was told that his sister Usha was married to Gajanand, a resident of Godlyaheri, 3 years ago. Both have a two year old son. Since marriage, Usha was harassed by her mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and her husband demanding dowry. Used to beat him. Fed up with the mental and physical torture, Usha consumed unknown poison and died as soon as she was taken to the hospital. On the complaint, the police registered a case and started investigation. The accused were arrested and challan was presented against them in the court. Statements of 23 witnesses were obtained in the court and 19 documents were presented.
