New Delhi, November 15 (IANS). Indian Navy in collaboration with Gujarat Police and other agencies has taken action against a large international consignment of narcotics. In this, 700 kg of meth has been seized in the sea.
According to the Navy, in a joint operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and ATS Gujarat Police, a ship with a consignment of about 700 kg of meth was intercepted in Indian territorial waters. Eight foreign nationals found on board the ship without any identity documents claimed to be Iranians. As a result of continuous intelligence gathering and analysis, security agencies had received a reliable intelligence report.
It was reported that an unregistered ship would enter Indian waters. There was intelligence input about the presence of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances on board this ship. After this, operation code named ‘Sagar Manthan-4’ was started. The ship was identified and intercepted by maritime patrol parties of the Indian Navy deployed here. This operation resulted in this seizure of narcotics and arrests on Friday.

At present, investigation is underway to identify the backward and forward linkages of the drug syndicate. For this, help of foreign DLEA is being taken. This operation is also a great example of inter-agency cooperation and coordination.
Earlier this year, ‘Operation Sagar’ was launched by forming a team of NCB, Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and ATS, the intelligence wing of Gujarat Police, to counter the threat to national security posed by maritime smuggling of illegal drugs. Could.
NCB has launched a series of such maritime operations in coordination with the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard. Around 3,400 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances have been seized so far. 11 Iranian nationals and 14 Pakistani nationals have been sent to jail in three cases.
