Jaipur : In the year 2023, Jaipur International Airport has experienced significant growth in both total passenger numbers and connectivity. Jaipur Airport manages more than 116 flight movements (arrival + departure) daily and offers direct flights to 19 cities across India and 6 international destinations. To maintain seamless operations during any emergency, the airport has established a back-up Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC). This new back-up AOCC located on the air side is fully equipped to handle all the technical functionalities of the primary AOCC.
Required when evacuating a building
A senior airport official said, “It is ideal for any major airport to have at least two operations control centres. In case of an emergency, when the terminal building needs to be evacuated, the back-up AOCC provides the necessary support, and ensures that air operations and other activities continue as normal. AOCC plays a vital role in the management and operation of air operations at any airport and is central to the efficient execution of air operations.”
Equipped with high level technology
The AOCC is typically integrated with various airport systems and sensors such as air traffic control, baggage handling, and security cameras to provide a real-time view of airport operations. During normal operations, the AOCC oversees resource allocation, coordinates with Air Traffic Control (ATC), and manages crisis situations. It also facilitates coordination with immigration, customs, CISF, airlines, and various internal departments. Both AOCC setups are equipped with high level technology and high speed connectivity that ensures seamless air operations.
