Siwan, May 3: In a significant police operation following a change in government, law enforcement in Bihar has intensified its efforts against criminals. In a recent encounter in the Barharia police station area of Siwan district, notorious criminal Sonu Yadav, who had a bounty of ₹25,000 on his head, was killed early Sunday morning. Yadav was accused of murdering Harsh Kumar, the nephew of a BJP leader.
During the incident, Chandan Singh, a relative of BJP leader Manoj Singh, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment. A police officer reported that they received a tip-off indicating that Yadav was heading towards Barharia to commit another crime.
Based on this information, a police team was formed. When the special team attempted to apprehend the criminals at a designated location, Yadav opened fire. The police retaliated, and Yadav was critically injured in the exchange. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors.
Earlier, another suspect, Chhotu Yadav, had already been arrested following the encounter and is undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound to his leg. Authorities have also apprehended an additional suspect connected to the case, from whom the vehicle used in the murder was recovered.
It is worth noting that Ramdhani Yadav, the accused in the murder of Executive Officer Krishna Bhushan Kumar at the Sultan Ganj Municipal Council office in Bhagalpur district, was killed in a police encounter last Wednesday, which also left three police personnel injured.
