New Delhi, November 15 (IANS). These days, many players have come into limelight for their performance in Ranji Trophy, the most famous tournament of Indian domestic cricket. Even on Friday, a young cricketer stunned everyone with his bowling. After the historic performance of Haryana fast bowler Anshul Kamboj, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has also praised him.
Secretary Jay Shah congratulated Anshul Kamboj for creating history by taking all 10 wickets in an innings in the Ranji Trophy match against Kerala.
Shah said the fast bowler’s performance was an ‘excellent display of pace, bounce and aggression’ and he became the third player to do so in the history of the tournament.
“Young Anshul Kamboj performed brilliantly as he took all 10 wickets in the first innings of the Ranji Trophy match between Kerala and Haryana. Congratulations as you put in a brilliant display of pace, bounce and aggression,” the BCCI secretary wrote on Twitter. He became only the third player in the history of Ranji Trophy to achieve this feat.”
Kamboj set this unique record by taking 10-49 wickets in 30.1 overs on the third day of the match played at Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli, Rohtak, in which Haryana bundled out Kerala for 291 runs. In the process he also completed 50 wickets in his 19th first-class cricket match.
Kamboj, a resident of Karnal, came into limelight last season by taking 17 wickets in 10 matches and played an important role in Haryana winning the Vijay Hazare Trophy. After this he played three matches for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 and took two wickets.
Kamboj played for India ‘A’ in the Emerging Men’s Asia Cup in Oman last month and took four wickets in three matches. In international cricket, only England’s Jim Laker, India’s Anil Kumble and New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel have taken all 10 wickets in an innings of a Test match.
