Jaipur : Vehicle owners do not seem to be aware about getting high security number plates installed. Even after being given six months’ time, the number plates of lakhs of vehicles have not been changed. From December 2023 to June 2024, only 3.33 lakh vehicle owners applied for high security number plates in the state, out of which number plates have been installed in 1.59 lakh vehicles. The Transport Department had earlier given instructions to install number plates (HSRP) in all vehicles by June 30, 2024 and take action against vehicles without high security number plates from July 1. In such a situation, vehicle owners were seen active in the month of June due to fear of challan. In this one month, 1.26 lakh drivers applied to change the number plate. However, high security number plates have not been installed on more than 21.50 lakh vehicles in the state yet. Now action will be taken against vehicles without high security number plates from August 1.

Question. Which vehicles are required to have high security registration number plates?
High security registration number plates were installed on vehicles purchased between 1 August 2012 and 30 August 2017. But vehicles whose number plates got broken or damaged later will now have to be replaced.
Q. What if my vehicle model is between September 2017 and April 1, 2019?
If you have a vehicle of model between September 2017 and 1 April 2019, then high security registration number plate has to be installed on all such vehicles. High security number plate has not been installed in the vehicles manufactured during this period.
Q. How do I know if my vehicle has a number plate or not?
There is a hologram in the form of a circle on the high security number plate. It contains the complete details of the vehicle. Apart from this, there is a 10 digit laser code on the number plate, which cannot be easily removed or changed. Such number plates come under high security. Such number plates can be traced with ANPR cameras.
