Mumbai, November 15 (IANS). Rajya Sabha MP and senior Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora, in a special conversation with IANS on Saturday, spoke openly about Maharashtra politics, upcoming elections, the challenge given to Shiv Sena’s (UBT) Aditya Thackeray and the ongoing controversies in Indian politics.
Milind Deora issued an open challenge to Aditya Thackeray and invited him for a public debate on the development of Mumbai and Maharashtra. Deora said, “I had kind of sent an invitation to Aditya Thackeray a few days ago that let us have a positive debate about Mumbai, Worli and Maharashtra. This debate should be based on issues and not in the form of personal attacks. But, till now there has been no response from them.”
He said that if Aditya Thackeray himself says that the candidates who are not ready to debate during the elections are afraid, then I would request him to join this debate and tell us what is his point of view.
On the political turmoil happening in Maharashtra these days and the investigation into the helicopter of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Rajya Sabha MP said that the election atmosphere in Maharashtra is heated. Home Minister Amit Shah’s helicopter was inspected, and the opposition is considering it as just a show. But, if we give more power to the Commission in elections, then it is a good thing. Raising questions on EVMs and Election Commission should be stopped during elections.
Deora also reacted to the statement of Congress MP Hussain Dalwai, in which Dalwai had termed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a terrorist organisation. He said that it is very regrettable that instead of blaming Pakistan, some people are targeting RSS. Do these people want to save someone else? This is beyond comprehension.
The Shiv Sena leader alleged that the Congress and its allies were giving priority to emotional and religious issues by moving away from development issues, which is an attempt to mislead the electoral process.
Milind Deora also objected to Hussain Dalwai’s comment linking India-Pakistan match with politics. He said that Hussain Dalwai’s statement that if relations are to be good then India-Pakistan match should be kept away from politics is meaningless. There is no need to respond to this issue every time. We should focus only on the politics of Worli, Mumbai and Maharashtra.
He expressed confidence that the people of Maharashtra will support the Mahayuti government this time on the basis of development. He said, “After forming our government, we will bring more development in the state, especially for the tribal and backward classes. BJP will get a big victory in the elections and NDA coalition government will be formed. Our government will work for all sections for the development of the state. Will work better.”
