PM Modi wished the countrymen on NCC Day in Mann Ki Baat program

New Delhi, November 24 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the 116th episode of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday, wished the countrymen on National Cadet Corps (NCC) Day.

PM Modi said in his address that friends, today is a very special day. Today is NCC day. As soon as the name of NCC comes up, we remember our school-college days. I myself have been an NCC cadet, so I can say with full confidence that the experience gained from this is invaluable for me.

Prime Minister Modi further said that NCC inculcates the spirit of discipline, leadership and service among the youth. You must have seen around you, whenever there is any disaster, be it flood, earthquake or any accident, NCC cadets are definitely present there to help.

He said that today continuous work is being done to strengthen NCC in the country. In 2014, about 14 lakh youth joined NCC. Now in 2024, more than 20 lakh youth have joined NCC. Compared to earlier, five thousand more new schools and colleges now have NCC facility. The biggest thing is that earlier the number of girls cadets in NCC was only around 25% and now the number of girls cadets in NCC has increased to around 40%. The campaign to connect more and more youth living along the border with NCC is also going on continuously. I would urge the youth to join NCC in maximum numbers. Whatever field you go into, NCC will be of great help in building your personality.

NCC was established in 1948 with the intention of shaping the youth with the values of discipline, leadership and patriotism.

The motto of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), the world’s largest youth organization, is unity and discipline.
