Jaipur : The results of the by-elections held on 13 November on 7 assembly seats of Rajasthan will come today. Counting of votes for all seven seats will take place at the respective district headquarters of Alwar, Dausa, Jhunjhunu, Tonk, Nagaur, Udaipur and Dungarpur. Counting of votes will start at 8 am. Postal ballots will be counted first. After this the EVM votes will be counted. There is a direct contest on Dausa and Ramgarh assembly seats and a triangular contest on Jhunjhunu, Khinvsar, Chaurasi, Salumber and Deoli-Uniara seats.
All the seven by-election seats are associated with the prestige of many senior leaders of the state. Of these seats, in the last elections, 4 were held by Congress and one each by BJP, RLP and BAP. The seats were vacant after Congress’s Harish Meena from Deoli-Uniara seat, Murarilal Meena from Dausa, Brijendra Singh Ola from Jhunjhunu, RLP’s Hanuman Beniwal from Khinvsar and BAP MLA Rajkumar Roat from Chaurasi assembly seat became MPs. The seat has become vacant due to the demise of BJP MLA from Salumber, Amritlal Meena and Congress MLA from Ramgarh, Zuber Khan.
Reputation of many veteran leaders at stake
Not only the candidates but the reputation of many senior leaders is at stake regarding the result of Rajasthan by-election. These results will impact the political future of leaders like Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to Sachin Pilot and Kirodilal Meena. The by-election is like a challenge for Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. Since at the time of Assembly elections 2023, BJP won only one seat out of these seven seats. If BJP succeeds in increasing the seats this time, then Chief Minister Sharma’s stature will become stronger.
