RAS officer arrested in 7 year old bribery case, know the whole matter

Jaipur : Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) took a major action on Monday and arrested Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer Akash Ranjan in a seven-year-old bribery case. In this case, the court had issued an arrest warrant against him. According to the information received, Ranjan had demanded bribe in a land case in the year 2017. At that time he was posted as Tehsildar. Currently he is posted as Additional Commissioner in the Devsthan Department in the capital Jaipur. Complainant Chander Singh had said in a complaint given to Alwar ACB post in the year 2017 that the RAS officer was demanding bribe from him in a land case.

Complainant Singh had said in his complaint that his father had bought the land. Ranjan had demanded bribe to decide the name of my son and brother’s son on the basis of the will of the land. At that time Ranjan was posted as Tehsildar in Tijara. It was said in the complaint that Ranjan and the Assistant Superintendent of his office demanded 8 thousand rupees as bribe.

The bureau verified the complaint. The complaint was found to be true. After this, ACB conducted a trap operation on 20 July 2017 and recovered Rs 8000 from the jail of accused broker Mansingh. At the same time, the allegations of demanding bribe against Ranjan were also proved. ACB conducted a trap operation to catch him too, but he absconded before being caught.

Charge sheet issued in 2022 Taking action in this case, ACB filed a charge sheet in February, 2022, while notices were issued against Ranjan, despite which he did not appear in the court. Only after this the court issued an arrest warrant against him. Acting on the warrant, ACB has now arrested Ranjan on July 15, 2024. He will be produced in Alwar ACB court.
