Udaipur : The state government has fixed the district-wise quota of pilgrims going on the pilgrimage this year under the Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme of the Devasthan Department. This is the first time when new districts have also got their separate quota in pilgrimage. This year, 36 thousand elders from the state will go on pilgrimage, out of which 8825 pilgrims will be from new districts. The pilgrimage has recently started again after the formation of a new government in the state. Under this, district-wise quota was allotted on Friday after the completion of the application process which started in the beginning of September. This is the first time since the resumption of pilgrimage after the previous government had created new districts, that the new districts have also got their separate quota. The census of 2011 has been considered as the basis for district wise quota allocation.

Lottery process started in the districts

Devasthan Department has divided 50 districts into 10 Assistant Commissioner offices located in the state. According to the allocation made to the districts, the passengers will be selected after completing the lottery process in the next three-four days. In about 10 districts the lottery process was done on Friday itself, while in the remaining districts it will be done in the coming days.

1300 names will be decided out of 10 thousand in Udaipur

Passengers of Udaipur district will be selected through online lottery on September 30. For this, the District Level Committee will conduct online lottery in the Information and Technology Office at 10.30 am. In the district, 9 thousand 223 passengers had applied from 5 thousand 358 forms. Out of this, 1307 passengers will be selected. Of those selected, 1089 will travel by rail and 218 by plane. The waiting list will also come out through lottery.
