Jalandhar, December 3 (IANS). Incidents of firing are coming to light every day in Punjab. A person has been shot in Kala Bakra village of Jalandhar. After this he was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
According to the information, the village sarpanch shot a person due to rivalry. The injured person has been admitted to Shriman Hospital in Jalandhar for treatment. The condition of the person is said to be serious. The injured person has been identified as Talwinder Singh. Police of Bhogpur police station has arrested the accused Sarpanch Davinder Singh Menta.
According to media reports, recently Talwinder Singh had contested for the election of Sarpanch. This thing was bothering Davinder Singh Menta, who became Sarpanch after winning the elections. Sources in the village have told that Davinder Singh had got the posters removed in the Sarpanch election of Talwinder Singh. Still Talwinder Singh had contested the elections against Davinder Singh.
Davinder Singh had won the Sarpanch election by a margin of only 5 to 6 votes. After becoming the Sarpanch of the village, this thing was pricking the mind of Davinder Singh again and again and to take revenge of this rivalry, he stopped Talvinder Singh on the way to the village and shot him.
Talwinder Singh was going home in his car. Sarpanch Davinder Singh stopped his car by parking a tractor in the middle of the road and opened fire on him. Talwinder Singh was seriously injured by the bullet. Talwinder Singh is undergoing treatment in the hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.
The Sarpanch of Kala Bakra village has been arrested by Bhogpur police station of Jalandhar Dehat. The police is investigating the matter. Sources have said that Davinder Singh is also a farmer leader and maintains his complete influence in the village.
DSP Kulwant Singh said that accused Davinder Singh Menta has been arrested in connection with the incident that took place in village Kala Bakra of Jalandhar. A licensed pistol has been recovered from them. A case has been registered in Bhogpur police station under relevant sections.
