Ban on selling meat in Pushkar, the king of pilgrimages
Asif Qureshi told the police that he was coming to Pushkar with meat for the first time and he was not aware of the ban on selling meat here. He was bringing the meat to give to the garment factory workers in Pushkar. Local Hindu organizations saw the bringing, carrying and selling of meat as destroying the dignity of a religious pilgrimage site and expressed strong displeasure over it.
