Agar Malwa : Three children drowned in the Lakhuinder River while bathing with their family in the Nalkheda police station area of the district. Villagers had recovered the bodies of two children late Friday night. The third body was recovered with the help of police and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) on Saturday morning and sent for postmortem. The police have started investigating the case.
According to the police, the incident took place in village Chaldara of Nalkheda police station area. Seven-year-old Monu, eight-year-old Muskaan and eight-year-old Raju had come with their family to attend a funeral on Friday. Around 5 pm on Friday, the men went to the funeral procession and the women went to bathe in the Lakhuinder River. The three children were also bathing in the river with them. When the women returned, the children were not seen. They then came home and informed the family. The family and villagers reached the river bank in search of the children. Monu and Raju’s clothes were seen in the river. After this, both the bodies were taken out.
When Muskaan was not found till late night, the villagers informed the police. The police and SDRF team searched for Muskaan throughout the night. The girl’s body was found around 5.30 am on Saturday. Monu and Muskaan were siblings. They have two other siblings. Pankaj also has one brother. According to the police, the bodies of the deceased children have been sent to the hospital for postmortem. The police is currently investigating the matter. At the same time, Collector Raghavendra Singh has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased children.
