
New Delhi, June 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire incident at a restaurant in Malviya Nagar, Delhi. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, he announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of each deceased victim and ₹50,000 for the injured.
In his statement, PM Modi said, “The loss of lives in the fire incident in Malviya Nagar is extremely tragic. My heartfelt condolences go out to those who have lost their loved ones. I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. The administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected individuals.”
He further stated, “An ex gratia amount of ₹2 lakh will be provided to the families of each deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. The injured will receive ₹50,000.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed his condolences on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “The loss of lives in the devastating fire incident in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, is extremely saddening. I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the departed souls rest in peace and that the injured recover swiftly.”
Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu, also expressed his sorrow over the incident. In a post on ‘X’, he said, “My condolences and prayers are with the families of the deceased. I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. Police, administration, and fire rescue teams are currently present at the site and are engaged in relief efforts. Officials have been instructed to ensure immediate medical assistance and relief for the victims and to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.”
BJP MP Naveen Jindal remarked on the tragic fire at the restaurant in Malviya Nagar, stating, “The news of the devastating fire in Malviya Nagar is extremely sad. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives and wish for the swift recovery of all the injured. May God grant the departed souls a place at His feet.”
The fire broke out inside a restaurant in Malviya Nagar on Wednesday morning. So far, at least 20 people have lost their lives, while approximately 37 individuals have been rescued.
