Jaipur News Desk: Traveling in roadways buses without tickets can now prove very expensive for the passengers. If found without a ticket in the bus, an amount equal to 10 times the fixed fare will be charged. Passengers traveling without tickets in Rajasthan Roadways buses will have to pay a heavy price. Roadways management has issued revised orders in place of the earlier orders regarding recovery of surcharge amount. According to the new orders, now 10 times the fixed fare will be charged from passengers traveling without a ticket in the bus.
For a long time, the roadways operators were demanding to implement this rule of passenger fault. After this big demand has been fulfilled, the roadways operators have unanimously welcomed it. At present, the inspectors who check buses focus on making remarks to the conductors rather than on passenger faults. Whereas there are a large number of passengers in buses who do not take tickets. Due to the unilateral action being taken till now, the roadways were not only facing financial loss, the operators were also being targeted and remarked at many places, but now due to the implementation of Passenger Fault, action will not be taken by targeting the operators and also the passengers. The financial condition of roadways will also improve by collecting fine from Rs. Orders to collect surcharge amount will also reduce the tendency to travel without tickets in roadways buses.
On the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa, emphasis is being laid on meaningful efforts to recover roadways from losses and increase revenue earning. Efforts are being made to make the vehicle inspection system effective in the corporation and to increase the corporation revenue. Roadways MD said that most of the inspectors do not collect surcharge amount from ticketless passengers during vehicle inspection. In such a situation, by revising the orders issued earlier, if the passenger is found traveling without a ticket, a fine equal to 10 times the fare or Rs 2000, whichever is less, will be recovered.
He said that in this regard, a target has been set to collect surcharge amount of Rs 36 thousand per month for the personnel doing inspection work. Earlier the target for inspectors was to catch 3 ticketless passenger cases. He said that along with this, a total of five or more such cases are found in a month against the bus charioteers, conductors and drivers of any one depot of the corporation, in which no action can be taken against them for traveling without ticket. In such cases, the personnel working in the concerned warehouse will also be issued a charge sheet for negligence and suspended so that the investigation is not affected.
